About Us:
Background
Since 1975 and prior to 2002, when the Organic Law of Integrity of Political
Parties and Candidates (OLLIPAC) actually
came into force, Papua New Guinea (PNG) had 13 governments meaning that
during the first 27 years of independence, on an average the nation changed
governments every 26 months or 2.2 years. Since the inception of OLIPPAC
in 2001, PNG has experienced socioeconomic and political stability and
growth which are positive indicators of development.
The Integrity of Political Parties and Candidates Commission which is
established under section 3 of the OLLIPAC
Act comprises of eminent Papua New Guineans appointed by the National
Executive Council (NEC). The Commission is headed by a Chairperson
who is the custodian of the Central Fund. The Registry is administered
by a Registrar.
